Due to GP illness we are running an EMERGENCY ONLY Service today. We are very sorry for the inconvenience but unfortunately this situation is unavoidable. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. 

UPDATE 11.30am - We can now offer a limited number of urgent appointments this afternoon.

We are currently experiencing very high demand due to the level of winter illness.  For coughs, colds and vomiting etc. please self care with over the counter products.  If symptoms are persistent your pharmacy can advise you.

A number of practices across East Lancashire including ours have an issue with the telephone system which our IT department are working on at the highest level to resolve.  Please use our website or online access to order repeat medication or to book appointments.  We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Appointments

With effect from Monday 1st July 2019 you will find an increase in availability of GP appointments which can be booked online in advance.

You can still make an appointment to see the Doctor, Nurse or any of our clinical team by calling at the reception desk, or telephoning the surgery between the hours of 8.00am-6.30pm Monday to Friday.

We operate the Advance Access appointment system, which simply means that you ring the surgery on the day you require the appointment. Be sure to ring early. Some pre-bookable appointments are available for those who have difficulty with on the day appointments.

Children under 5 years are always offered same day appointments.

We run all our surgeries by appointment only. Our Receptionists will endeavour to meet your requirements within the framework of our appointment system, however this is not always possible and you may be offered an alternative.  Please do not blame the Receptionist if she is unable to meet your request specifically, as she is merely carrying out the doctors' instructions.

Please be assured that we make every effort to adhere to appointment times, but occasionally surgery can be running late due to emergency admissions or GP's being called out on urgent home visits. Your patience is much appreciated in these circumstances.

Reception Staff

Our fully trained receptionists will assist you in making appointments to see your Doctor, undertake acute prescription requests, and offer help and assistance at times. They may need to ask you further details when you telephone. This is to ensure that we assist you as speedily as possible They are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors and nurses.

Please do not blame the receptionist if she is unable to carry out your request, they are merely carrying out Doctor’s instructions, usually under difficult and demanding circumstances.

Please be on time

Please arrive promptly and check in at Reception and please remember to cancel your appointment if you can no longer keep it, someone else may need to see the doctor urgently.

Cancelling Appointments

If you are not able to make you appointment, please cancel this as soon as possible to enable others to benefit from it.

If you need to speak to the Doctor

If you wish to speak to a doctor, but do not need to make an appointment, we have a limited number of telephone consultations each day.

The GP will then call you back after the morning surgery or before the afternoon surgery. It would be helpful if you are prepared to give the receptionist a brief outline of what you wish to discuss, so that relevant records/results are made available. Please leave your telephone number with reception, and your call will be returned.
